• Either one of the spouse has medical issues aside from infertility.
• Both spouses have unexplained infertility despite being physically healthy.

In IUI, these problems are directly addressed or bypassed altogether. For example, if the wife has problems ovulating, she could be prescribed with fertility medicines like clomid or hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin).  If the husband has low sperm motility, his specimen is ‘washed’ so only the most mobile sperm are introduced into the womb. ‘Washing’ entails putting the sperm in a medium and letting them swim up to a certain layer. The sperm that makes it in that stratum are removed and introduced into the uterine cavity.

The actual IUI procedure is not invasive relative to other ART techniques. Insemination with a syringe is simply a substitute of how conception is naturally done. When iui is need

A woman may need to have iui if she is found to be allergic to her partner’s sperm or if her partner has poor sperm motility, which is when the sperm is unable to travel all the way to the egg for fertilization. Iui may also be performed if her partner has a low sperm count.

IUI process

Before a woman can have iui it is recommended that that she takes fertility drugs to stimulate the ovaries production of mature eggs that are suitable for fertilization. For iui to be successful the woman must be in ovulation and it is therefore very important to make sure that ovulation has occurred.
